Finally he was forced to bring her to Brisbane to have the baby, but disgracefully, for four days separated Lafitar from her new baby.

“Now after his deceptions and the lack of proper maternity care on Nauru have been exposed, Morrison is threatening to send the family back to Nauru. And despite the obvious risks, he has sent more pregnant women and unaccompanied minors to Nauru.

“With the intense heat, the lack of water, and tent accommodation, the conditions on Nauru are appalling; unfit for anyone let alone a new baby. The Minister must lift the threat of Nauru that hangs over Latifar, Farus and the rest of the family.

“He must lift the threat of removal to Nauru that is hanging over the head of the Tamil asylum seekers with the disabled four year-old daughter and all the other asylum seekers who have arrived since 19 July. Nauru, and Manus Island must be closed.

“It is Tony Abbott’s ‘Stop the boats’ policy, his contempt for human rights and his attempt to push Indonesia to accept the tow-back of asylum boats that has got him into trouble with the Indonesian government. We will be calling on Indonesia to end all asylum seeker disruption activities and insist that Australia accepts its regional responsibility to process and resettle refugees.”

For more information, contact Ian Rintoul 0417 275 713

[A protest is also being called in Brisbane – Sunday, 24th November, 1pm, Brisbane Immigration Transit Accommodation (Brisbane detention centre), 100 Sugarmill Road, Pinkenba; contact Mark: 0439 561 196 ]

The Refugee Action Coalition has called a protest tomorrow (Friday 22nd) outside Scott Morrison’s media briefing, at Commonwealth Government offices, 12.30pm, 1 Bligh Street, City, calling for the Immigration Minister to guarantee that the Rohingyan family with baby Farus, born on 6 November, will not be returned to Nauru.

[4
12
0":"post-3005","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-press-releases","7":"tag-nauru
["GET
