The International Organisation of Migration may have signed a deal with Cambodia to assist transferring refugees from Nauru to Cambodia; but no-one is interested.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The visit by three Cambodian officials to the Nauru detention ended last weekend without any asylum seekers or refugees expressing an interest in going to Cambodia.<\/p>\n

The Cambodian officials came to view one refugee camp but made no attempt to even speak with the refugees.<\/p>\n

“IOM has long willingly collaborated with the Australian government to violate the rights of refugees. IOM actually managed the Nauru detention centre under the Howard government,” said Ian Rintoul, spokesperson for the Refugee Action Coalition.<\/p>\n

Nauruan refugees staged a protest at their camp on Saturday, 17 January (see photos).<\/p>\n

The protest was also prompted by a break-in by local Nauruans into the house of single Somali refugees – the latest targeted attack by vigilantes against refugee on the island.<\/p>\n
