(see photos attached; videos available on request.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3990\" src=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web1.jpg\" alt=\"Camb protest web1\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web1-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a>The demonstration in defiance of the a recent Nauru government decree requiring seven days notice, was held following media speculation that transfers of refugees from Nauru to Cambodia could be \u2018as early as Monday 20 April\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3991\" src=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Camb protest web2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web2.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The \u201cSettlement in Cambodia\u201d factsheet being circulated by Australian immigration officers on Nauru declares that Cambodia does not have a problem \u2018with violent crime or stray dogs,\u2019 a clear reference to the some of the dangers facing refugees on Nauru.<\/p>\n<p>The rally was just the latest in the on-going refugees\u2019 campaign of non-cooperation with the detention regime on Nauru.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside calls for \u201cJustice,\u201d the rally also declared, \u201cCambodia, never ever.\u201d Immigration officers have been approaching both refugees and asylum seekers but there is still no confirmation that any refugee has signed to be sent to Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3992\" src=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web3-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Camb protest web3\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Camb-protest-web3.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>\u201cThe demonstration is a very strong indication of what the vast majority of refugees on Nauru think of Cambodia as any destination for refugees,\u201d said Ian Rintoul, spokesperson for the Refugee Action Coalition. \u201cThe government has wasted $40 million just to get Cambodia to sign an agreement with Australia. It is money that could have been spent resettling refugees and providing needed services in Australia that could have been used by the whole community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thousands expected at \u2018welcome refugees\u2019 rally<\/p>\n<p>A major \u201cWelcome Refugees\u201d rally will be held on Sunday, 19 April, 1pm, Belmore Park in Sydney (details below). Sydney\u2019s rally follows the national rallies that drew thousands in Melbourne and Canberra on Palm Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The rally will call to, \u201cClose Manus Island; Close Nauru.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rally comes in the wake of revelations that the previous Immigration Minister, Scott Morrison, covered-up information about sexual and physical abuse of women and children on Nauru.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court constitutional challenge to Manus Island detention and human rights abuses returns to the PNG Supreme Court in Port Moresby on Monday 20 April.<\/p>\n<p>For more information contact Ian Rintoul mob 0417 275 713<\/p>\n<p>Sydney welcome refugees rally and march:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClose Nauru\u201d and \u201cClose Manus Island\u201d are key demands of Sydney\u2019s \u201cWelcome Refugees\u201d rally, Sunday, 19 April, 1pm, Belmore Park.
