{"id":5609,"date":"2016-12-12T11:40:45","date_gmt":"2016-12-12T00:40:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/?p=5609"},"modified":"2016-12-13T10:56:47","modified_gmt":"2016-12-12T23:56:47","slug":"message-support-teachers-refugee-t-shirt-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/refugeeaction.org.au\/?p=5609","title":{"rendered":"Message of support for teachers&#8217; refugee t-shirt action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We would like to add our support to the Teachers for Refugees t-shirt action planned for the week of the 12th of December, where teachers will wear t-shirts with the slogans &#8220;Teachers for Refugees\u2014Close the Camps, Bring them Here&#8221; in schools and workplaces.<\/p>\n<p>The action has already been supported by the Australian Education Union (Victoria Branch) and the NSW Teachers Federation.<\/p>\n<p>We reject attempts to intimidate teachers from being involved in this action. Teachers have a right to a political opinion and to state their opposition to offshore detention policies and government abuses of human rights.
