Hundreds of refugees in Australia\u2019s offshore prisons remain in limbo, as the US deal falls hundreds of places short of the 1250 initially suggested. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Australian government has run out of options. Except for New Zealand\u2019s offer to resettle 150 refugees, which has so far been rejected by the government, there are no other third country resettlement countries,\u201d said Ian Rintoul, spokesperson for the Refugee Action Coalition.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government has left the refugees in shocking conditions on Manus and Nauru for almost six years. The government has already brought hundreds of people to Australia for medical treatment that is not available on Nauru or Manus Island. The only alternative is to bring the refugees and asylum seekers to Australia where they can get the care and protection they requested in 2013.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSix Years Too Long\u201d rallies are being called across Australia on 19 and 20 July, to mark the sixth anniversary of the introduction of the Pacific Solution Mark II on 19 July 2013. In Sydney the rally is being held on Saturday 20 July, 2pm at Sydney Town Hall.<\/p>\n
