Stop deportations

The Australian Government is currently preparing to deport hundreds of people to places ravaged by poverty and war such as Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran. Around 350 people are prisoners in Villawood, only 40 minutes from Sydney Airport.

Stopping deportations of any person against their will requires us to develop our understanding of the roles anti-immigrant hysteria and racism play in contemporary politics and capital’s control over labour, it requires a broad strategy to develop a strong movement capable of making deportations and detention un-viable for the Australian government and the corporations that profit from this inhumane and corrupt system (such as Malaysia Air and Serco, who run detention centres).

It means putting our bodies and our hearts in the way of this machine. Often there is little or no notice of each particular deportation, so to stop them we’ve got to be very well organised.
