Police beat Manus refugees

PNG police and Immigration returned to the detention centre around 7.00am (PNG time) this morning and have begun systematically beating refugees in an attempt to drive them out of the detention centre. (Video clip below)

Around 350 people remained in the detention centre overnight despite brutal police actions yesterday that destroyed food, water, and medicines.

Around 50 people were forcibly removed from the detention centre yesterday – photos of injuries suffered by an Iranian asylum seeker as police dragged him from Mike Compound are pictured.
